Call for Applications, Associate Professorship at Energy Science Division,
EcoTopia Science Institute, Nagoya University, Japan

Energy Science Division, EcoTopia Science Institute, Nagoya University invites applications for a faculty position at the Associate Professor level.
Energy Science Division conducts research and development relating to new energy, energy saving and environmental load reduction.  In particular, the division focuses on research and development of the technologies for efficient energy conversion to reduce energy consumption and accompanying environmental burden, and of practical processes, apparatus and materials to convert renewable resources to energy with minimal impact on the environment.  The selected applicant should conduct the research project described below.
EcoTopia Science Institute promotes interdisciplinary researches, which should be performed collaboratively with researchers in various academic fields within and outside Nagoya University.  The selected applicant is also expected to work on such interdisciplinary researches.

Research Project Theme
To achieve a sustainable society, it is desired to improve efficiency of energy production, conversion, transport and consumption as well as to reduce environmental burden accompanying each of the processes.
The present project is concerning fabrication of functional materials.  Its objective is research and development of energy-saving processes which give equal or better functionalities to the materials including energy materials than existing processes as well as are feasible as industrial production processes.

Number positions: One associate professor position available for the research project
Position period: 5 to 10 years (normally 7 years)
Requirements: 1) Ph.D. or equivalent degree
2) Research record in accordance with the content of the research project
3) Ability of supervising graduate course students in the Graduate School of Engineering with faculty members of the related department
Available date: April 1, 2012 or the earliest possible date after April 1, 2012
Application documents: 1) Ttitle and summary of the proposed research (ca. 1000 words) 
2) Requesting period for the position
3) Curriculum vitae (in any form) with the applicant’s e-mail address included and the applicant’s photo pasted
4) Publication list categorized by refereed journal papers, review papers, books, patents, and others with the applicant’s name underlined
5) Reprints of no more than five major papers (Mark these papers by * in the publication list.)
6) Summary of previous researches (within 1000 words)
7) Other records on professional activities such as awards, research funds and invited lectures (The records of the research funds should include the names of the principal investigator as well as amounts in Japanese yen.)
8) Summary of educational experience, if any, and list of the department(s) or course(s) in the Graduate School of Engineering where the applicant can contribute to education (If the applicant selects more than one department or course, specify an order of preference. 9) Names and contact information of one or two persons from whom references can be obtained
