Call for Applications, Associate Professorship at Green System Division, EcoTopia Science Institute, Nagoya University, Japan

Green System Division, EcoTopia Science Institute, Nagoya University invites applications for a faculty position at the Associate Professor level. In particular, with the aim to achieve a sustainable recycling society, the division focuses on research and development of the assembling a network system that are related to material recycling contribute to reducing environmental impact and resource saving and Stable energy supply infrastructure to support social activities, and research on and optimum system design method.
  The selected applicant should conduct the research project described below.
  There are also features that EcoTopia Science Institute uses a fluid-system, which is going to be to put a time limit on each research project and which optimizes both researchers and research subjects. EcoTopia Science Institute promotes interdisciplinary researches, which should be performed collaboratively with researchers in various academic fields within and outside Nagoya University. The selected applicant is also expected to work on such interdisciplinary researches.


Research Project Theme
The current project for the applications is "Study of combustion phenomena due to the fluid mechanics."

Social construction to balance the safety, security, comfort with a low-carbon society is expected to realize the environment-friendly society to grow up sustainably. It is one of the important issues that reduction of environmental impact that social and urban systems bring indirectly and directly. To solve these problems, high efficiency of the internal combustion engine that has been widely adopted in many devices such as an automobile, is an important factor. The candidates should propose and perform a sub-project to develop the combustion control technology using mainly the large-scale numerical calculation based on the hydrodynamic elementary processes of combustion turbulence.

Position period 5 to 10 years (normally 7 years)
Requirements 1) Ph.D. or equivalent degree
2) Research record in accordance with the content of the research project
3) Ability of supervising graduate course students in the Graduate School of Engineering with faculty members of the related department
Starting date July 1, 2014 or the earliest possible date after July 1, 2014
Application documents 1) Title and summary of the proposed research (ca. 1000 words)
2) Requesting period for the position
3) Curriculum vitae (in any form) with the applicant’s photo pasted and the applicant’s e-mail address included
4) Publication list categorized by refereed journal papers, review papers, books, patents, and others with the applicant’s name underlined
5) Reprints of no more than five major papers (Mark these papers by * in the publication list.)
6) Summary of previous researches (within 1000 words)
7) Other records on professional activities such as awards, research funds and invited lectures (The records of the research funds should include the names of the principal investigator as well as amounts in Japanese yen.)
8) Summary of educational experience, if any, and list of the department(s) or course(s) in the Graduate School of Engineering where the applicant can contribute to education (If the applicant selects more than one department or course, specify an order of preference.
