Call for Applications, Associate Professorship at Division of Green Systems, EcoTopia Science Institute, Nagoya University, Japan

Division of Green Systems, EcoTopia Science Institute, Nagoya University invites applications for a faculty position at the associate professor level. The division aims to develop stable energy supply infrastructure to support social activities and create material recycling for resource conservation and environmental impact reduction. The division conducts research on the development of energy and material-related networks and optimal system design.
  The selected applicant should conduct the research project described below.
  There are also features that EcoTopia Science Institute uses a fluid-system, which puts a time limit on each research project and optimizes both researchers and research subjects. EcoTopia Science Institute promotes interdisciplinary researches, which should be performed collaboratively with researchers in various academic fields within and outside Nagoya University. The selected applicant is also expected to work on such interdisciplinary researches.


Research Project Theme
The current project for the applications is “Environment-friendly energy system engineering based on thermo-fluid dynamics.”

To create a sustainable society, it is essential to develop energy systems with highly-efficient generation, conversion, transfer, control, consumption, and storage of energy. The candidate will be expected to study on measurement techniques for thermo-fluid phenomena at micro- and macro-scales and to develop highly-efficient energy systems utilizing the thermo-fluid phenomena.

Number of positions One associate professor position available for the research project
Position period 5 to 10 years (normally 7 years)
Requirements 1) Ph.D. or equivalent degree
2) Research record in accordance with the content of the research project
3) Ability of supervising graduate course students in the Graduate School of Engineering with faculty members of the related department
Starting date November 1, 2014 or the earliest possible date after November 1, 2014

5) Publication list categorized by refereed journal papers, review papers, books, patents, and others with the applicant’s name underlined
6) Reprints of no more than five major papers (Mark these papers by * in the publication list.)
7) Summary of previous researches (within 1000 words)
8) Other records on professional activities such as awards, research funds and invited lectures (The records of the research funds should include the names of the principal investigator as well as amounts in Japanese yen.)
9) Summary of educational experience, if any, and list of the department(s) or course(s) in the Graduate School of Engineering where the applicant can contribute to education (If the applicant selects more than one department or course, specify an order of preference.
